Welcome! Data for Good has a jam packed meetup this month.
First we will hear from one of our Micro-projects groups, YYC Datapost. They will present their project, showcase what they have accomplished and share insights.
Next, are you excited to participate in a datathon? Data for Good Calgary will be co-hosting a datathon with Jumpstart Refugee Talent in the spring. Join us to hear from Rebecca Benest as she provides a brief presentation about Jumpstart and it’s vision for how data can make a difference.
And finally we will hear from seasoned storyteller Mike Stefaniuk. Drawing upon his vast experience, Mike will delve into the nuances of gathering data and persuasive storytelling from his personal playbook. During his presentation, he will share the sources of inspiration that have shaped his approach to ideation, initiating action and facilitating change with data. Join us to learn from Mike’s unique insights and experiences.

Mike is currently the Director, Business Development (IoT and Digital Transformation) at SaskTel, where he has held numerous senior roles. He is a lifelong learner with a passion for strategic thinking, persuasive storytelling, and innovation. He excels at identifying connections others may overlook and has a proven track record of initiating and leading transformational change.
About Rebecca Benest and Jumpstart Refugee Talent
Jumpstart Refugee Talent is a refugee-led non-profit organization and the only national organization exclusively serving refugees seeking meaningful economic inclusion. Rebecca manages Monitoring and Evaluation and Organizational Development for Jumpstart. Previously, she managed granting programs for Save the Children’s response to Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico and has extensive experience in community engagement, support, and programming in Guatemala, California, and Tanzania.
